What is The Key and how does it work?
The Key is a unique wedding, partnership or a friendship gift designed and produced by the Swedish artist Martin Jämtlid. The Key is manufactured in an ancient Swedish tradition. It's made of sand casted iron, the surface has it appearance and texture that is typical of this method. The Keys body is hollow. The cavity is used to store written personal messages or small items that symbolizes the bond people make. Thereafter the case will be sealed for all eternity.
Before soldering the lid in place, items or secret messages of your choice will be placed into The Key. If you choose a written message it will be sent via e-mail and printed on high quality handmade paper. If your choice is a physical object it can't be bigger than it would fit in a folded hand and you need to send it to Sweden, you will find the address in the message document when you are placing the order. Be sure to send the object in a traceable package and with sender information. The lid that is used to seal The Key is made of warm drawned iron as standard, for an additional cost you can have a lid made of brass. An engraving of your choice will be placed on the lid. Every Key will be sealed by the artist himself, securing that your secrets not will be revealed to a third party.
Martin Jämtlid started making The Key in 1995, since then not one of the couples or partners that have been using The Key to confirm their union have parted. This is of course not an absolute guarantee for eternal happiness but it's a good start.
